" To find out how Tiberius met Vypsonya;
how the statue ended up where it was discovered, and how Cathaginius became
Vypsonya's personal bodyguard, refer to the text in the CD's printed material
Instances I could impart to you that would quake the flesh, disrupt thy natural meter of breath, and cause a curdling of the innards so vile as to spur mellifluous paraffin a'oozing from the portals of thy baubled ear.
I shall now relate the story of Vypsonya, a woman who learned that love can mean less to a man than his desire to rule an empire. An enchantress immortal, she has, thru the ages, exposed the emotional weaknesses of men of power. What unknown cosmic conjuration enables her to embrace eternity?
In the days when Christ walked the earth, Vypsonya's twin sister Alicia
was stricken by a bubonic scourge that descended on Rome, thus inflicting
her with an unconsciousness for which the local physicians had no remedy.
While her husband Tiberius was away leading armies on the frontier, Vypsonya
decided to seek the counsel of the fabled Greek Sybil. Though aware that
women are forbidden an audience with the seer, she succumbs to curiosity
and disguises herself with the helmet and cloak of a gladiator thus gaining
entrance to the sacred cave on the distant isle of Delphi.
For her impiety the Sybil had set a curse on Vypsonya in the form of an oracle. An empress she would be... an empress of darkness.
Vypsonya arrived home to learn that Tiberius, who had returned to Rome a general victorious over the Germanic tribes, had initiated divorce. Cowering to his scheming mother, he was to remarry a certain widow of rank, and thus find favor with the Emperor Augustus, who had yet to choose his successor. Her contempt for her husband was to such degree that Vypsonya did not reveal that she was with child. To add to her woe, the flame of life in her sister Alicia begins to fade to an ember.
Her only recourse being a faith in the mystical, Vypsonya placed one of the seven locks of Sampson's hair around the neck of her helpless sister. Drawing back from death with open eyes and a voice barely audible, Alicia offered thanks thru welling tears.
Vypsonya then dispatched her bodyguard Carthaginius to bear the news to her estranged husband that both she and her sister had fallen victims to the pestilence and, from hygienic necessity, their bodies were incinerated with others in a mass pyre...Tiberius wept....
Conveying the immobile Alicia, Vypsonya and her loyal retinue departed the Eternal City in the dead of night.
Such were the vicissitudes of a former wife of a future emperor.
In this, the present time, Jimmy Jingle, a freelance photographer who cannot whistle, romanticizes about a true love, which has, thus far, eluded him.
3. Love May
Retreating from a downpour, Vypsonya enters the shop of a numismatist where she produces a gold coin from the reign of Tiberius. Kept silent from a cough, she nods in agreement when the proprietor offers her a generous sum to acquire it.
During the transaction Jimmy, while demonstrating a digital camera that sends images via satellite to a printer, is awestruck and begins taking her picture. As she leaves he hands her the resulting prints, along with his card, suggesting that she visit a prominent modeling agency. She does as advised, is accepted, and thereafter known as 'Sonya' duly christened with the surname 'Lynn'.
Soon afterwards Jimmy is ecstatic when he sees her face and name on the cover of a magazine.
4. Super Sonya
Sonya, who'd kept Jimmy's card, calls him to express her gratitude for his helping start her career. He learns, much to his embarrassment, that he had addressed her incorrectly.
5. Someone's Calling Me
6. Sonya Lynn
As a fashion icon the media soon bestows upon Sonya the coveted title of 'Super Model '.
7. She Models For Elite
Sonya, cringing from her conscience, calls Jimmy in the pre-dawn hours. He is disturbed by the incontinency of her lifestyle.
9. Bad Girl
Diminutized by her fame, Jimmy confesses his coronary captivation as gazes over Sonya's billboard image in Time Square.
10. My Heart
Sonya relates to the bedridden Alicia the burdens of celebrity incident to fame.
11. Shut Up
12. Let Her Go
While photo documenting an archaeological expedition at the Vatican, Jimmy is present when a shrine is discovered. In it stands a statue whose face bears a remarkable resemblance to Sonya's. The name carved in the base is ' Vypsonya ' and an inscription reveals, that by imperial decree, she has been proclaimed a goddess. Near the statue he finds what would seem an offering of coins similar to the one she had sold when they first met.
13. A Shrine
Jimmy gets this news thru to Sonya, and upon receiving it, she descends into the melancholic.
14. I Still Love You
Due primarily to her escapades with the rap artist Monrogue, Sonya's released from her modeling contract. A minor setback, as she has, by then, become a cinema star of international renown.
15. Super Star Sonya
Jimmy composes a letter to Alicia, whom Sonya often mentioned during her midnight monologues. Remaining outwardly anonymous by withholding his name from the envelope he mails it via a film company. It is addressed ' To: Alicia/... care of... 'Supernatural Sonya'.
Though I end my tale here
As the depths of night draw near
And day it dawns a distant year
Vypsonya....She shall reappear!!
